Do I need a subscription to use Vigdís?

No. Vigdís is free for one profile on a single device — you can build a daily routine, give rewards, and track progress without paying anything.

A subscription unlocks more profiles, automatic cloud sync, and sharing across devices. Current pricing is shown in the app.

What’s the difference between Standard and Multi-Family?

Standard fits one home: two profiles on a single device, everything stored locally.

Multi-Family adds cloud sync, sharing with another parent or grandparent, and up to six profiles under the same subscription.

How do points and rewards work?

Each task awards points when your child checks it off. Points show up on the Rewards tab and can be spent on rewards you set yourself — screen time, a small toy, a trip to a favourite place.

You control both what earns points and what each reward costs.

How do I add a task or routine?

On the Tasks tab tap +, pick a time period (morning, after school, evening, or all day), give it a name and a picture, and — if you want — add subtasks (e.g. socks → pants → shirt).

Recurrence is optional: daily, specific weekdays, or one-off.

What ages is Vigdís for?

Vigdís is designed for children roughly aged three to twelve, always alongside an adult. Parents or carers set up the routines and rewards; the child checks off each step.

It’s especially useful for children with autism, ADHD, or other support needs, but works for any family building daily habits.

What is Protected Mode and the parent PIN?

When Protected Mode (child mode) is on, everything that matters — settings, rewards, sharing, deletions — sits behind a four-digit PIN. Your child can still check off tasks and earn points, but can’t edit or delete anything.

You set the PIN in Settings → Protected Mode.

Can multiple kids share one device?

Yes. Each child gets their own profile with their own tasks, points and rewards. Switch between them by tapping the profile avatar at the top of the screen.

Does Vigdís work offline?

Yes — Vigdís is designed to work offline. Everything is stored on the device itself and sync happens automatically once you’re back online (if cloud sync is turned on).

Can I use my own photos on tasks?

Yes. You can attach a photo from your library or take a new one for each task — the actual objects and rooms your child knows make a routine much easier to follow. With cloud sync on, those photos are mirrored across devices.

What happens when my child finishes the day?

Vigdís celebrates with Lóa, small animations, daily streaks, and achievements that gradually unlock. The whole tone is quiet, positive encouragement — no guilt-trip notifications when a day doesn’t go to plan.

Does Vigdís collect any data about my family?

Vigdís is designed local-first: routines, photos and tasks live on your device by default. If you turn on optional cloud sync, your routines are synced through our cloud service so other devices can see them.

We may also collect a small amount of usage data to help us understand which features are used and what to improve. You can turn this off any time in Settings → Legal → Help improve Vigdís. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.

Step by step

How to turn on cloud sync

Cloud sync mirrors your routines across iPhone and iPad — and lets you share a profile with another parent. A Multi-Family subscription is required to sync your own profiles.

  1. 1
    More tab — Cloud section

Open the More tab and find the Cloud section

Tap the More icon on the bottom tab bar. Scroll down until you see the Cloud section with the status row and the sign-in button.

  2. 2
Sign-in sheet with Apple and Google buttons

Tap “Sign in to cloud” and choose how to sign in

Pick Continue with Apple or Continue with Google. You don’t need to create a new password — you use the account you already sign in with on your phone.

  3. 3
    Signed-in cloud account view

    Confirm you’re signed in

After signing in you’ll see your email address and current plan (Free, Standard, or Multi-Family). If you need to upgrade, Vigdís offers Multi-Family directly from this screen.

  4. 4
    Cloud sync toggle turned on

    Turn on “Automatic cloud updates”

Back on the More tab, in the Cloud section, flip the toggle on. Vigdís syncs immediately and the status row reads “Last synced moments ago”. You can turn it off again at any time.

Step by step

How to share a profile

Once cloud sync is on and you have a Multi-Family subscription, you can share a profile with another parent, a grandparent, or your own iPad. They see the same routines from inside their own app.

  1. 1
    Profile Settings — Sharing card

Open Profile Settings and find the Sharing card

Tap the profile avatar (or More → profile) to open settings. Scroll down until you reach the Sharing card.

  2. 2
Share step 1 of 3 — choose profile

    Tap “Send Invite”

You’ll get a three-step flow. First you confirm which profile you’re sharing (if you only have one, it’s selected automatically).

  3. 3
Share step 2 of 3 — access level

    Choose an access level

Viewer (recommended): can see the routine and check tasks off, but can’t edit anything. Editor: can change tasks and pictures. Admin: can also invite more people.

  4. 4
Share step 3 of 3 — QR code

    Show the QR code

Vigdís generates a QR code the other person scans with their iPhone Camera — the app opens automatically. You can also copy a link to send by Messages or email the invite straight from the app.

  5. 5
    Incoming Invite banner

The other person accepts the invite

Next time they open Vigdís an orange banner appears at the top of the screen saying “Incoming Invite”. They tap it, accept, and the profile syncs into their device.
